Alun’s involvement with music began at the age of 9, when he started playing the Cornet in the Salvation Army. During his teen years he became the principal Tenor Horn for the Southern Divisional Youth Band and Bandmaster of Andover Salvation Army Band.
Alun has over 30 years’ experience of working with Brass Bands, as a player and Conductor. In this time, he has spent a lot of time coaching players, the young and the more mature.
In the last 8 years he has become a Brass peripatetic teacher and thrives in bringing the best out of his students. His work takes him to schools in Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
When he is not teaching, Alun plays Trumpet for Musical shows and a Soul band called ‘The Flotonics’. He also works with Andover Musical Theatre Company as Musical Director, working on shows which include The Witches of Eastwick, Oliver, Little Shop of Horrors, The Wedding Singer, 9to5 and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Alun offers instrumental lessons on all brass instuments including: trumpet, cornet, trombone, french horn, tenor horn, tuba & euphonium helping learners of all ages to explore music in a fun and exciting way.
Students wishing to learn how to explore and appreciate leading other musicians within band, orchestral and musical theatre groups are invited to try their conducting under the guidance of an experienced conductor.
